Pampulha lagoon is the most popular running place here in Belo Horizonte. There you can enjoy beautiful views and the weather is pleasant during all the year. There aren't any toilets, but you can find many places where you can buy mineral water. The 18k course is flat with many corners passing near some of the city's main attractions like: Mineirinho, Mineirão, Igrejinha and the Zoo.

One of the best places for runners is Andradas Avenue (between Contorno
Avenue and Silviano Brandão Avenue – Horto neighborhood). It is a
flat 2.5 km course, closed to the traffic, with marks each 100 meters
that are great to control the training. There is a water fountain at
the 300 meters mark.

The Santa Lucia Dam area. It is located near Papagaio slum, but its relatively
safe because there are many policemen around. The course is flat and
can be 831 meters, 1.000 meters, or even a little bit longer. There
are some stalls where you can buy coconut water, energetic juices or
water. The course is around a small lake with some small ducks.
Unfortunately there aren’t too much trees, but it is a pleasant
place!

Pampulha lagoon is the best place for running in Belo Horizonte. The
course is about 18k long and every year the “Volta da Pampulha”
international race takes place there. The course around the lagoon is flat and we can see some Belo Horizonte
tourist attractions like Mineirão and Mineirinho stadiums and São
Francisco de Assis church. It’s very pleasant to run around the lagoon and
I recommend it to all runners that come to Belo Horizonte.

The trails in Mangabeiras Park are great for running. There are a lot of hills, some very high, and running on the paved trails in the forest is an adventure. The course length varies too much. It is advisable to bring water, since there isn't water fountains nor toilets along the trails. You shouldn't go alone, it is better to go with a group, because some areas are far from everywhere and, in case of an emergency, it is not a good idea to be alone. It helps a lot if you get the trails map at the park administration. It can be dangerous if you go away from the trails. Athletes with disability should be aware that it is a very hard hilly course and some parts of the trials are pierced with
holes.

Good day!I live in Belo Horizonte and we have a wonderful place for running that is "Lagoa dos Ingleses" (lagoon). It is at the Belo Horizonte exit to Rio de Janeiro. The area is flat and surrounded by mountains, the soil is soft, dirt, and there are wonderful views of the lagoon and the mountains. Other good place for running is at the "Rio das Pedras" condominium, 15km from downtown. This is a mountain terrain with may stones. The area is at high altitude, so the weather is nice and the views are great. There isn't water to drink along the course, so you should bring it. There aren't toilets either. Since it is a hilly course, it is not recommendable to people with physical handicaps. Hugs, Eduardo.
