Rio de Janeiro Half-Marathon
August 26 marked the 5th running of the International Rio de Janeiro Half-Marathon, one of largest road race in Brazil and boasting 21k of beachfront running!  The course known for its exceptional beauty, attracted 11,350 participants, awesome spectator support, and an international line-up of elite athletes.

Crossing the finish line first at 1:03:31 was angolan Batista N'Tyamba and completing the podium were four brazilians: Rômulo Wágner Silva (2nd), Manoel Teixeira (3rd) Elenílson da Silva (4th) and Daniel Lopes (5th).

Brazilians dominated the first four positions of the women's division with Selma Reis crossing the finish line at 1:15:21.  Following Selma were the brazilians Maria Zeferina, Marizete Rezende (São Paulo Marathon winner), and Viviany Anderson. Fifth place was polish Violetta Kryza (Pittsburgh Marathon winner).
