Great
races in São Paulo
There
were two great events in São Paulo city in September: the
Golden Mile Corpore and the Pão de Açúcar Marathon Relay. Golden Mile Corpore gave the unique opportunity for many road
runners to race on the track. There were many mile races rounds
divided by age and gender categories. Elite Category
winners were Edgar
Martins with 4:02:47 and Fabiana Cristine da Silva with
4:43.86.
The
Pão de Açúcar Marathon Relay is fastest growing race in
Brazil. This event, with 8, 4 and 2 runners teams, had 7
thousand participants in 1999, 11 thousand in 2000 and 15
thousand this year. The Cruzeiro 8 runners male team was the
first one to cover the marathon distance in 2:04:31.
Among the female teams the first one was Pão de Açúcar /
Funilense in 2:29:54.
