Marilson Gomes dos Santos wins São Silvestre International Road Race

Brazilian Marilson Gomes dos Santos won São Silvestre, the most traditional road race in Brazil, covering the 15 km in 43:49. It was the first Brazilian victory after six years of African dominance. Second place was Brazilian Rômulo Wagner followed by the Kenyans Martin Lel, Robert Cheruiyot and Yusuf Songoka. In the female race the winner was Kenyan Margaret Okayo in 51:24.
